ActiveMath-SVN now a binary distribution

Today I have changed the ActiveMath-SVN distribution to become a binary distribution. That is, the compilation result is part of the svn repository.

This will mean that people do an update will get conflicts and means that other recipients will not need a JDK anymore. The installation using ActiveMath-SVN is now documented.

Conflicts

If you have already checked-out ActiveMath-SVN Please resolve them by “resigning to your local changes”, that is, by letting subversion replace your local files with the one of the repository. Deleting the files in conflict and re-issuing an update is a way to achieve this.

Easier installation

In principle this means that installation of ActiveMath is considerably easier than previously since the JAVA_HOME variable issues (part of the Windows build procedure) and the need for a JDK now have disappeared. This is at the price of yet a fatter download but not a fatter disk impact.

The installation using ActiveMath-SVN is now officially documented.

I would look forward to issues or enhancements you encounter.

Does locking work now in SVN?

See question

sorry no

(see answer ;-) )

It seems that lock has been feature that only appeared in new versions of subversion. This is surprising since CVS had it since long and they really wish to provide a feature-full replacement of it. It will require an upgrade of one of our central servers… I fear this might be a month from now. paul
