Eds live chat robustness confirmed

Thanks to the recruits and volunteers in ISAW (Internet Studies And Webportfolio) at Saint-Maurice’s High School in North-Lanark, Scotland, for participating in an initial pilot in helping to stress-test communication features of the online community forum.

The results are encouraging. All but one user, who was chatting with several windows opened, had no drop of lines. The reason for such an experiment was a repeated complaint about dropped chat-lines in the current eds chat which makes this mechanism unreliable, sometimes even for two persons.

A re-installation (new server, Drupal 5, new chat room module), under way to replace the current Eds platform (see it here) has been used. That installation will replace eds later.

Thanks students and thanks Albert!

Re: Eds live chat robustness confirmed

Thank you for allowing us, here in Scotland, to do a little bit to help to hone the European eds.activemath community.

We have enjoyed and benefited from the experience.

If we can be of any further help, please don’t hesitate to ask. We would like to stay involved.

Congratulations for finally having a decent server available to host Drupal 5, as well as for having persevered and shown tremendous patience with the piloting on a less than satisfactory hardware platform.
