Activemath performance

The couple of ti mes I used AM in the classroom its performance was worrying. This was after well documented incidences a year ago where our webserver just collapsed. Strange as its a dedicated server. I would like to use this topic for reports on class room performance.

performance measure one year ago is too old

Christian,

one year ago seems long ago.

You could also be more detailed about the server you used. If you are talking about stmichael.activemath.org then, no, it is not a dedicated server (and I thought you knew it), it is actually the same server that hosts eds and a few other services… and is relatively old 450 Mhz G4 (but stable!).

Better examples of performances can be obtained on demo.activemath.org (a destkop) or leam-calculus.activemath.org (a relatively good server).

One particular bottleneck which has impacted performance of ActiveMath has been the user-model, whose lack of performance actually refrains a release. And this could have been what has bitten you when it was running on your server. This is solved now.

It’s indeed been a while. After translating I’ll try AM again on our own server. (3 Gb double xeon).
