Mash-Ups are a story of services and semantics

I just attended the MUPPLE workshop here at ECTEL in Maastricht. In general, I tend to be finding bad style the mashup approaches such as the “very simple web-page embedding”. In this case, I was impressed of seeing something real useful happen just under my eyes.

One guy presented a platform trying to support resource storage and reading using real clean standards approaches (some RDF, some WebDAV, some versioning…

Another described micro-formats as a way to encode metadata at the content-level… all in XHTML… and their experience with that.

Tastes like the “bad style” of mashup is a claim I really have to revise…

But maybe a definition of mashup could help get cleaner…
